Hungered Pursuit of God

“And after fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry.” Matthew 4:2

The period of lent commemorates Jesus’ time of prayer and fasting in the wilderness. During this time He sought His Father’s face amid temptation and hunger. This year, February 17th marked the beginning of the Lenten season, and with it a 40 day period of prayer and fasting at Arizona State University. This event will gather leaders from numerous campus ministries to commit to pray and fast throughout the coming weeks until its conclusion on March 28th. Every Monday they will gather weekly to meet corporately and seek God’s face and call out for His Kingdom and His will to come. The collegiate day of prayer will take place during this period of prayer and fasting. As such, on February 25th, the entire Body of Christ will be invited to meet from 2:00-4:00 pm at Danforth Chapel. During these two hours, worship and prayer will be directed toward Christ’s salvation and restoration of ASU and campuses across the nation.
They will be joined in prayer by campuses all over America. What is also exciting is as of today, all but 11 states have signed up to partake in the Collegiate Day of Prayer. At ASU, the 40 days of prayer and fasting will be followed by 24 days of 24 hour prayer. The Danforth chapel will once again be the epicenter of prayer and worship. During the day prayer will take place outside the chapel and every night, Monday through Friday, a corporate time of prayer and worship will be held. It is expected that 6 to 7 ministries will band together during this time as well as a number of churches. Chris Ngai, Campus Renewal Ministries Campus Director for ASU said, “We want to engage the body of Christ more actively.“

He also noted his excitement that the body of Christ is uniting at ASU. Ngai said, “I feel like that the relationships with ministries are becoming closer,[and] there is more openness to work together.” CRM looks onward with great excitement and anticipation for what God will do during this time of great seeking. We also rejoice with the Body at ASU and look forward to greater unity and camaraderie amongst the ministries laboring toward this generation’s unity in Christ.
